The Kingsbridge branch of Howdens has kicked started 2020 with an impressive charitable donation, giving a new kitchen to Salcombe Crabfest, the annual celebration of Salcombe’s fishing and tourism industries that takes place annually in May.

The kitchen is a much needed addition to the festival, providing the space and facilities for the numerous highly acclaimed chefs attending the event to conduct their free cookery demonstrations for visitors to enjoy.

Salcombe Crabfest is run by The Rotary Club of Salcombe, and is a free-to-attend charity event, raising money for local organisations and good causes.  Money raised from previous events now totals in excess of £40,000! This year the Salcombe Crabfest is taking place on Sunday 3^rd May, and it looks set to be another enjoyable day out, with any money raised going directly to Dementia and Alzheimer’s charities.

John Sampson, organiser of Salcombe Crabfest said “We are delighted to receive this kind and generous donation. The kitchen will be set up in the main Chefs Demo Tent in the Creek Car Park, providing the much needed space, facilities and equipment the chefs require. With a phenomenal line up of locally and nationally acclaimed chefs, many of whom will be pairing for joint demos, visitors to Crabfest 2020 are in for a treat. We can’t wait to see what delicious South Devon inspired dishes will be rustled up! Huge thanks must go to Howdens – the kitchen will be a useful resource for many years to come.”
